Aprilia af1/rv4 timing/position of the stator backplate?
Hi all, as you know i have an aprilia af1 50, it has an rv6 engine similar to the rv4. My engine seems to be running a little rough and jerky, so i wondered if anyone could tell me how to set the timing up / backplate(behind the flywheel) to see if this improves the running. I have a different cdi(derbi gpr50 cdi) if this makes any difference. Also if you have any pictures to see if i have it in the right position that would be great.
Any help is much appreciated, if this is in the wrong section please move it. Thanks again for any help.

Re: Aprilia af1/rv4 timing/position of the stator backplate?
Citaat: I have a different cdi(derbi gpr50 cdi) the type before 2005?? if not i recommend you buy a ducati Energia CDI for AM6 and RV3/4/5/6 engines... that's the one that works best on your engine... adjusting the stator backplate; first you turn your backplate fully to the opposite direction of the turndirection of your flywheel. if done check if the moped runs stationary smoothly... if not, turn the backplate a bit back... if it runs smoothly try a bit further and if it doesn't run smoothly anymore turn it back to where it ran smoothly. if you repeat the sequence for a while you should get it right in the beginning it takes a bit long but after you turn your screws on and drive for 1......... km you'll see the prints of the screws in your backplate and you'll be able to tune it easily the next time

Re: Aprilia af1/rv4 timing/position of the stator backplate?
Hi thanks for the help, i'll try that when i rebuild the engine, which should be very soon. But if i turn the backplate all the way to the right then it may still be wrong because there are different bolt/screw holes. Also if you look at this picture http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... aatsw5.jpgshould i put it like that and then turn it the way you said? Thanks again.

I'm a bit confused right now, because i think your backplate isn't mounted the way it should be...

That wasn't a picture of my engine, i'm not quite sure what position mine is in, but i think i put it like that. Do you have a picture of what position i should put it in? Thanks.

Re: Aprilia af1/rv4 timing/position of the stator backplate?
dont you have a manual that explains how to rebuild the RV4 because it covers the ignition i think.

Re: Aprilia af1/rv4 timing/position of the stator backplate?
No i don't have one because these engines are so rare over here. Just wanted a picture as a rough guide to see where to position it and then work from there and get it running right. Thanks for the reply.

i have a site with some dutch information, you need to translate that for yourself. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4291&hilit=RV+ontsteking+afstellen this is the way to fix your ignition.

Also there arent really any pictures showing where to have it bolted, so i get an idea where it is meant to be.
